Tweedy Impertinence

Homeland execs Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa have promised that Carrie’s memory will return.

The CIA agent (Claire Danes) was subjected to ECT treatment in the first-season finale, moments after recalling the link between Brody (Damian Lewis) and Issa, the son of terrorist Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban).

“It’s not going to happen in the way that you think,” Gordon told Vulture. “But it is going to happen.”

Co-showrunner Gansa also hinted that viewers will see Carrie in a “centred, healthy place” when the second season begins.

“[Carrie] has been through a course of psychotherapy, and ECT, so she’s sought and gotten the professional help that she hasn’t had in years,” he explained. “[She’s in a state] which we haven’t seen her in before.”

The pair also suggested that Brody’s daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) will grow suspicious of her father following the events of ‘Marine One’.

“She’s processed a lot,” said Gordon. “We don’t quite know what she thinks of that last call she made to him, so we’ll find out!”

Homeland will return to Showtime in the US on September 30. Channel 4 has picked up the rights to air season two in the UK, with a late 2012 broadcast planned.

Everyone lies in this business, I accept that. But we all draw a line somewhere, and the two sides of that line are “us” and “them.” And whatever we had, you and I, whatever trust we built up over a decade of me protecting you, teaching you everything I know? You destroyed it when you lied to me, and you treated me like them, like every other schmuck in this building. Now, when you say you understand, is that what you mean?
